Lately I’ve noticed that people seem to be put into stereotypes and groups more than ever before. Goths, Chavs, Greebos etc. There seem to be people changing what they wear and listen to etc to fit into so called cliques to fit in and be popular.

But are you one of these people that likes to follow trends and be put into certain groups or do you prefer not to follow trends, make your own or just follow your own style because its what you are comfortable with?

Personally I dont consider myself as a trend follower jumping on any particular bandwagon. Music wise I’m open minded despite Nu Metal being my favourite style really but I listen to a range of stuff like Method Man and Redman, DMX, Elvis, Simon and Garfunkel, Saliva etc so I cant be grouped into one of these musical groups like greebos etc.

Clothing wise I wear it if its clean and comfortable. I dont go out of my way to make sure I’m wearing say a hoodie and jeans 40 sizes too big with skate trainers and black bondage on my arms so I can fit in with the other grebs around the town. A nice pair of jeans with a hooded top is fine if its clean but if not I dont go out of my way to wear that stuff. I suppose I could be classed into the sort of Skaters category really based on the majority of my clothes but I didnt buy them for that look. I brought them because I liked the look of them, nothing trend following about it. But thats me for you.

So how about you lot. Do you think theres a lot more of this going on? Is it stereotyping people for wearing this stuff to try and fit in? And what about yourself, do you follow or set trends?

Thanking You Muchly

To me, I feel I am a trend setter as I don't jump on to any bandwagons as such, I just wear what clothes I wish to wear, I listen to music which varies from the likes of Metallica, to ICP, Eminem and heck even this dance music which most people hate.

I am currently however joining a trend as well, I am growing my hair to a style similar to CM Punk (a wrestler) Also I am only 15 so trying to grow my side-burns are hellish to grow by they're looking quite good so far.

So in conclusion I basically wear what I wish, a have a good fashion / dress sense. ;)

I wouldnt say i was a trend setter, or a follower of trends. I dont go out and buy something because everyone else is wearing it (ie Von Dutch), and i dont buy things to set an example to others. I go out and buy what looks good on me, and what i feel comfortable in.

I also cannot stand being placed into a specific group, i feel that take away the personality of an individual. And thats what we all are, individuals, the whole meaning behind the human race is that we are all unique. No two people are exactly the same and i dont think we should try to be.
